Introduction: Nervous system is the chief coordinating system of the body.
It is responsible for judgement intelligence and memory.
Nervous system is highly evolved at the cost or regeneration.
It is the most complex system of the body.
It adjusts the body to the surroundings and regulations all bodily activities both voluntary and involuntary
#. Divisions of Nervous System
1. Anatomical : It is divided into
Central Nervous System : Which comprises brain and spinal card .
It is responsible for integrating coordinating the sensory information and ordering appropriate motor actions.
Central nervous System is the seal of learning, memory, intelligence and emotions.
Peripheral Nervous System : Includes 12 pairs of cranial nerves and 31 pairs of spinal nerves.
These provide afferent impulses to central nervous system and carriers efferent impulses to muscles glands and blood vessels.
Functional : Paripheral nervous system functionally has two components
1. Afferent component provide sensory information to central nervous system.
2. Efferent component carriers motor information to muscles, glands, blood vessels and heart via.
(a). Somatic nervous system for the control of skeletal muscles.
(b). Automatic nervous system for control of heart, smooth muscle of the organs glands and blood vessels.
It is subdivided into sympathetic and parasympathetic parts.
