 Introduction:

Understanding basic medical terms can indeed empower individuals to better manage their health. Here's are some essential medical terms to know.

Blood Pressure:

The force of blood pushing against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps blood.

Cholesterol:

A fatty substance found in the blood that can build up and block arteries increasing the risk of heart disease.

Diabetes:

A condition where the body either doesn't produce enough insulin (Type 1) or can't use insulin effectively (Type 2) leading to high blood sugar levels.

BMI ( Body Mass Index):

A measure of body fat based on hight and weight. It helps assess if someone is underweight normal weight, overweight, or obese.

Cancer:

A group of diseases characterized by the uncontrolled growth and spread of abnormal cells.

Allergies:

An overreaction of the immune system to substances that are usually harmless, such as poller certain food, or medications.

Inflammation:

The body's response to injury or infection, characterized by redness, swelling, heat, and pain.

Antibiotics:

Medications used to treat bacterial infections.

Vaccination:

Administration of a vaccine to stimulate the immune system to develop immunity against a specific disease.

Hypertension:

A mood disorder characterized by persistent feelings of sadness hopelessness, and loss of interest or pleasure in activities.

Anxiety:

A mental health disorder characterized by excessive worry, fear or nervousness.

Seizure: 

Sudden, uncontrolled electrical activity in the brain resulting in temporary changes in behaviour, movement, or consciousness.

CPR( Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation):

Emergency procedure performance to manually preserve brain function until further measures can be taken to restore blood circulation and breathing.

Glucose:

A type of sugar that serves as the body's main source of energy.

Thyroid:

A gland in neck that produces hormones regulating metabolism and other bodily functions.
